

John H. Pfeifer, 95, formerly of New Brighton, Pennsylvania and Cape Coral, FL, passed away at 2:42 AM, Saturday, August 30, 2025. He was born in Unionville, PA, a son of the late Morris S. and Florence Hart Pfeifer of New Brighton and was a retired employee of Townsend Company in Ellwood City, PA and Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, FL. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in New Brighton and was a Tech Sergeant in the United States Air Force having served in the Korean Conflict. While on a mission, his plane was shot down over North Korea and he and his crew were rescued from the China Sea. John was a member of the Beaver County Chapter of Umpires where he umpired for over 50 years for the schools in Beaver Valley. He moved with his wife to Cape Coral, Florida in 1986 and did umpiring for the schools there and also served on the board of directors for the umpire association. He also worked for Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers until his move back to Pennsylvania. John is survived by his wife of 66 years Virginia Pasquale Pfeifer and two sons and daughters-in-laws, Joseph and Diana Pfeifer of Daugherty Twp., John and Nancy Pfeifer of Beaver Falls and a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Rob Shrum of Brighton Twp. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Melissa Pfeifer and her fiance Josh Beightly of New Brighton, Michael and Holly Pfeifer of Cranberry, Aaron Pfeifer of Beaver Falls, Ryan and Marissa Shrum of Brighton Twp., Brandon and Lauren Morgan, Andrew and Kim Morgan and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law John and Bonnie Morell, two brother-in-laws, Donald Pasquale of North Sewickley Twp., and George Majors of Miami, FL and a sister-in-law, Loretta Majors. As per his wishes there will be no viewing. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Holy Family Church, New Brighton, PA on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 10:15 AM with Father Howard Campbell as celebrant. Military rites will be accorded by the Beaver County Special Unit following the memorial service. Interment will be private at Saint Joseph Cemetery.
