

Joyce Ann (Love) Booker, of Rochester, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, October 19, 2013. She was born May 12, 1937 in Concord, NC, the daughter of the late Shiloh and Viola (Parks) Love. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a wonderful homemaker. She was like a sister and friend to all who knew her. As a faithful member of the Holiness Church of God, Industry, under the ministry of Pastor Sam Sallis, Joyce lived her life to serve others.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years: Leatch Booker, Jr. on March 7, 2009; mother-in-law: Hattie Jeter Booker; her sisters: Shirley Rice and Ella Chatman; a nephew: John Dewany “Wayne” Rice; brother-in-law: John Douglas Rice; and great nephew: Shawn Rice.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, who loving cared for her, Lisa Booker, Rochester; four sons and two daughters-in-law: Donn and Wilhelmina Booker, Winchester, VA; Vaughn and Antoinette Booker, Romansville, PA; Leatch Booker, III, and Shawna, Rochester; Larry Booker, Rochester; her former daughter-in-law: Taryn Michele Gary, Lansdale, PA; fourteen grandchildren: Donn, Jr., Jonathan, Myrina, Sabrina, Tamia, Vaughn, Jr., Taeryn, Valin, Jennifer, Dorian, Derrick, Dawnese, Zamara, and Shaunte; one great grandchild: Tylaya Goosby; three step grandchildren: Karima, Joseph and Terrell; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Philip and Maude Chatman, Detroit; Jerome Chatman, Detroit; her sister: Erma Jean “Pepe” Chatman, McKeesport, PA; a sister-in-law and her husband: Corriella “Betty” and Preston Wicker, Philadelphia; nieces and nephews: Keith Wicker, Elder Ray and Yvonne Rice, TyJuan, Antione, Rizwan Rice, Detroit, MI; and Jovtia Rice, Madison, WI.; and many great and great great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express thanks to the staff of Catholic Hospice for their compassionate care, Robin, Patty and Nancy; and special thanks and praise to her friend of over 60 years: Juanita Ward, Rochester for her faithful support both physically and spiritually through our mother’s extended illness; thanks, as well, to her dear friends Eva Cameron of Aliquippa and Stella Anderson of Beaver Falls.
Friends will be received Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC. 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday at the Holy Spirit Fellowship Church, 1100 6th Street, New Brighton, with additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
