
Michael was a graduate of Center High School and Penn State University, State College, PA. He was an accomplished trumpet player who volunteered his time playing “Taps” at Veteran events. One of Michael’s proudest moments was achieving Eagle Scout status, the highest attainable rank with the Boy Scouts of America, while a member of Boy Scout Troop 454. He also volunteered with the Beaver County Sportsman’s Conservation League Youth Foundation, The Independence Conservancy and the Aliquippa Bucktails Sportsmen’s Club. He was a lifelong member of Van Kirk Lutheran Church and dedicated his life to God.
Michael is survived by siblings Linda Zupsic, Center Township; Marjorie (Jim) Meriwether, Bergholz, OH; Andrew J. Harcher, Monaca and Dana (Al) Mathews, Fredericksburg, VA; two nieces, Connor (Robert Lomax) and Grayson Mathews, a nephew, Tyler Mathews, great-nephew, Cole Lomax and great-niece Briar Mathews all of Fredericksburg, VA. He is also survived by an uncle, Harold (Linda)Winkle, an aunt Marilyn Winkle and numerous generations of cousins.
The family would like to thank the Pastors and members of Van Kirk Lutheran Church, Concordia Home Nursing, David, Melissa and Amy Winkle, Mary Yakubisin, Elvin Irons, Rob Kerr, Rob Gillin, Charles O’Neill, Greg Vollman and especially Andrew Harcher for the kindness, care and compassion they gave Michael.
