

Naomi Ruth Helbig, age 86, of New Sewickley Township, passed away on January 8, 2026 at Passavant in Zelienople, PA. Born in Freedom on November 23, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Caplinger and Norma (Carl) Caplinger Giles.
She grew up in New Brighton where she was a member of the Church of the Nazarene on Oak Hill and later attended services and brought up her family at St. John Lutheran Church in Ambridge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Arthur Helbig in 1989, two brothers, Theodore Caplinger and David Caplinger, also her stepfather, Russ Giles of Rochester Township.
Naomi's favorite past times were dancing at SNPJ and Circle of Friends and playing hymns on her piano. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, and she was an avid reader. All the grandkids will remember the badminton games in the backyard and of course the sled riding!
Naomi leaves behind two daughters; Kimberly Helbig, New Sewickley Township, and Michelle (Johnny) Blinkey of Daugherty Township. 18 grandchildren and great grandchildren; Danny (Samantha) DeDominincis, Lexi and Brinley of Chippewa, Jenna (Jesse) Dietrich, Jesse Jr., Jackson, Joelle and Jacob of New Sewickley Township, Katie (Rob) Henry, Tommy, Madilyn, Ava Jo of Rochester Township, Jordan (Debbie) Cinderich, Melce and Nico of Brimfield, Ohio, Capt. Austin (Shelbi) Schrauder of Las Vegas, NV, and Hannah (Donnie) Ward and Donald Matthew III 'Trip' of New Sewickley Township.
The family would like to thank all of the caretakers that stayed with her at her home, and the staff at Passavant Community in Zelienople for the exceptional and compassionate care that she received.
All services were private and entrusted to the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, 273 Route 68, Rochester, PA 15074. Interment held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom.
