Neal B. Bishop, 89, of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 20, 2026. Born on May 27, 1937, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, he later made his home in Ambridge in his early years, where he built a life marked by steady work, steadfast faith, and devotion to those he loved.
A graduate of Ambridge High School, Neal carried forward the values of diligence and straightforward honesty that defined him throughout his life. He worked in the steel mills until they shut down, operating the Blast Furnace and taking pride in doing demanding work the right way. In the years that followed, he served his community as a school bus driver for 30 years—reliable, loyal, and known for the kind of grounded good humor that made everyday moments a little easier for those around him.
Neal was married to the late Lois Bishop for 48 years, a marriage rooted in enduring love and faithful commitment. He was the father of Ricky Bishop (Crystal Gillespie-Bishop) of Chester, WV, and the grandfather of Justin Bishop of Baden, PA. Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Victor A. Bishop and Margaret Bishop of Ambridge, PA, and his brother, Dr. Wayne Bishop of State College, PA.
In his personal life, Neal found joy in the outdoors and in the simple satisfactions of time well spent. He loved camping and vacations, and he especially valued the shared experiences that came from being Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 699 for Economy Borough. With the Boy Scouts, he treasured canoe trips to Canada—adventures that reflected both his steady leadership and the quiet delight he took in helping others grow. He also loved gardening and summer outdoor work, finding purpose and peace in the seasons and in hands-on care.
A man of faithful presence in the community, Neal was a mason for the Masonic Temple, living out a commitment to fellowship and service with the same dependable integrity that guided every part of his life.
Neal B. Bishop will be remembered with respect and gratitude—for his hard work, his loyalty, his devotion to family, and the honest warmth he brought to the lives he touched.
