Penny Lee Hughes, 69, of Mentor, OH passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 24, 1947 in Beaver Falls, daughter of the late William Kramer and Betty (Wonert) Kramer, Monaca.
Penny was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a creative and gifted quilter who has shared many a quilt with friends and family members who will cherish them as an heirloom. Penny also enjoyed baking, particularly during the Christmas Holiday. Her favorite canning specialties included delicious green beans and homemade jelly. Although relocating to Mentor a number of years ago, she remained an avid and loyal fan of the Steelers. Most important to Penny was the love of her life Richard, her daughters and grandchildren. She expressed her faith by membership in the Lutheran Church.
Penny is survived by her loving husband of 51 years: Richard Creed Hughes, Mentor; two daughters and a son-in-law: Lisa Hughes, Mentor; Mindy (Alvin) Collins, Aliquippa; five grandchildren: Andrew Moltzen, Pittsburgh; Ashley (Mike) Parker, Industry; Jeffrey Belic, Mentor; Andrew and Abbey Collins, Cloquet, MN; one brother and sister-in-law: David (Vickie) Kramer, Monaca.
Friends will be received Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Additional visitation will be held Thursday morning, October 26, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Her funeral and celebration of life service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
In honor of her wishes, cremation will follow with placement in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of The Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor, OH 44060.
