Richard T. “Red” Hacker, 87, New Sewickley Township, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018. He was born August 27, 1930 in Pittsburgh, son of the late Frederick and Dorothy (Gray) Hacker. Affectionately known as “Red” by family and friends, he retired from Pittsburgh Tube as a Millwright and Foreman with over 40 years of service.
For a number of years, he was a member of a Bowling League at Beaver Valley Bowl. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and the sport of hunting. Locally, Red most frequently hunted deer and small game from his hunting cabin in Greene County, and in recent years, Jane Lew, West Virginia. He also made a number of trips to the great western states of Wyoming and Idaho hunting deer and elk. Red was a member of the Marion Hill Trap and Shoot Club; and a member of New Brighton United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter: April Hacker in 2010; a brother: Frederick Hacker; two sisters: Sara Jane Hostetter and Norma McClinton.
Red is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Lasky) Hacker, with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this July (he will forever by her “Honey”); one son and daughter-in-law: Richard C. (Marian) Hacker, New Sewickley Township; two daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Dale (Ted) Waddell, New Sewickley Township; Karen (Scott) Acree, Valencia, PA; six grandchildren: Amanda (Shawn) Brendlinger; Richard P. (Wendy) Hacker; Ted “T.J.” (Rachael) Waddell; Trish (Matt) Arvay; Kelly Acree; and Kyra Acree; four great grandchildren: Grayson Hacker; Mila Arvay; Leyton Arvay and Adelei Waddell; his brother and sister-in-law: Robert (Nancy) Hacker; two sisters: Dorothy White and Abby Habberfield; nieces, nephews and extended family.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018 in the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Berkley, officiating.
