Richard L. Hardman, 65, of New Sewickley Township, passed away, Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Heritage Valley Hospital, Beaver. He was born July 13, 1947 in Buckhannon, WV, son of the late Richard and Barbara (Tenney) Hardman. Rich proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and began, what would become a lifelong employment with Bell of Pennsylvania , later Bell Atlantic and Verizon. Rich retired with over 25 years of service.
He was a member of American Legion Post 512, Unionville; Masonic Lodge 229 F & AM, Rochester; the Scottish Rite Consistory and Osiris Shrine of Wheeling. In his leisure, he liked hunting, fishing and golf. He also enjoyed restoring old cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Ronald Tenney.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of 38 years: Virginia “Jenny” (Davidson) Hardman; one daughter and son-in-law: Michelle and Michael Pierro, Columbus, OH; his grandson: Michael John Pierro; his brother: Robert Hardman, Rochester; a sister: Nancy Kennedy, Wilmington, DE.
Friends will be received today from 4 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His Masonic Brothers will conduct a brief Masonic Service at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. A graveside committal service will be held 11:30 a.m., with Military Honors, on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Rock Cave Cemetery, outside of his native home of Buckhannon.
