

Robert D. Jackson Jr., age 80, of Independence Township, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia. Born June 29, 1945, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Robert D. and Sylvia (Rode) Jackson Sr. Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, enlisting in June of 1966, having served in Vietnam from 1969-1970. At his discharge, he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Among other jobs, he worked as a salesman for Jackson Welding Supply Company in Pittsburgh, before retiring as a District Manager for Miller Electric/Welding Company. His hobbies included hunting, boating, camping, riding his Harley and driving his Corvettes. He loved spending family time at Easy Acres Farm, watching the Steelers, drinking beer, enjoying s'mores and ice cream around the fire, and traveling to Myrtle Beach, every summer since 1970. In addition to family time, Bob also looked forward to meeting up with 'The Guys' for lunch nearly every week. Bob Engelmeier and Ed Harkins are lifelong friends he has remained close with since childhood and they were with him through all of the years since.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol (Cridge) Jackson, two sons; Robert (Teresa) and Michael D. Jackson, one granddaughter, Alanna Jackson, and two sisters; Roberta Snee, and Pauline (Phil) Pruszko.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas R. Jackson, and a brother in law, Emerson A. Snee II.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 11am until the time of funeral services, including full military honors at 12, noon at the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, 273 Route 68, Rochester, PA 15074. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the VFW.
