

Roy Calvin Foster, Jr., 82, of Crescent, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born January 21, 1932 in Duquesne, son of the late Roy and Anne (Foreman) Foster. He was a graduate of Avonworth High School, where he lettered in Football, Baseball, Basketball and Track. He attended Geneva College prior to entering the U.S. Army. Roy proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Iceland serving as a Quarter Master and Transportation Engineer.
Following his honorable discharge, Roy worked at the Aliquippa Works of J&L Steel, later LTV and retired from the Homestead Works as a Standing Engineer and Supervisor of the Boiler House.
During his leisure time, Roy was an avid golfer. Through the years he was a member of several Golf Leagues. Roy also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pirates.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Valeria (Bakunoff) Foster.
He is survived by three sons: Steven Foster, Crescent; Brian (Lorie) Foster, New Brighton; Doug (Ada DiBattista) Foster, Aliquippa; one daughter: Cheryl (Stephen) Waring, South Daytona, FL; three grandchildren: Megan Foster, Nathan Foster and Kacy Anne Waring; and one sister: Lottie Jean Anderson, Cleveland.
Friends will be received Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m., in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His funeral service will immediately follow the visitation. Private interment will be in the Garden of Devotion, Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
