Sylvia was born February 18, 1930, to parents Jonas and Mabel Rulapaugh Fuller, in Elmira, New York. She married Layton “Rusty” Crytzer in 1949, at the age of 19, and moved to Birdville (Natrona Heights), Pa.
She had three children.
Sylvia became very active in the Women’s Clubs Organizations. She was a talented artist, working at McCullough’s Floral Shop in Brackenridge, Pa., where she created beautiful floral arrangements. One of her joys was creating unique crafts, which she did with her dear friend and mentor, Jemima Crytzer, for many years. She loved to paint and was a prolific artist -- toll painting, murals, ceramics, and the like. She enjoyed boating and spent many hours on her pontoon houseboat on the Allegheny River. Sylvia loved to laugh and to dance, which she did joyfully with her childhood friend, Polly Neiley, with whom she maintained contact throughout her life.
In 1993, Sylvia married Joseph Dean of Sarver. They moved to West Palm Beach, Florida. She loved living in Florida, which she did until 2018, when health issues dictated a move back to the Pittsburgh area.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Nancy Conway; her sons, George Crytzer and Thomas (Sherry) Crytzer; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her beloved relatives through marriage, William and Linda Crytzer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Elisabeth Ann Fuller-Mobbs, dear Jemima Crytzer, and both of her former husbands.
In light of the pandemic, there will be no service. Cremation and final resting of remains will be at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Rochester, Pa.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, Inc., 273 Route 68 Rochester (Adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Mausoleum). Online condolences may be shared at www.saul-gabauer.com
