

Wilbur Ward Guy, born June 19, 1937, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, December 18, 2023. Born in Freedom, PA, a son of the late George Emmanuel and Garnet Ripper Guy, he was the youngest of eight children. He always said he was the one they were waiting for. He was a loving, respected son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Wilbur graduated from Freedom High School with the class of 1955. He enlisted and was proud of his four years of service in the United States Air Force. He served in Japan, Korea, and Okinawa. In 1976 he founded Guy's Mechanical Systems, Inc. and served as President until his retirement in 2010. He was a life member of the BPO of Elks Lodge in Rochester.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Harry and George Guy, two sisters; Mamie Rice and Helen Retzer and his first wife Isabell Musgrave Guy.
He is survived by his wife Rita (Soltes Young) Guy who he married on November 11, 2011 at 11am, his sons; Dr. Mark (Christine) Guy and Gary (Ginny) Guy, his stepdaughters Colleen (Bob) Hoge and Heather (Richard) Hinkle and stepson Gary (Ellen) Young. Also surviving are grandchildren; Chelsea (Joe) McCarty, Aaron Guy, Hannah Guy, Morgan (Tyler) Helch, Alex (Makenzie) Guy, step grandchildren Susan (Derek) Mason, Brian (Danielle) Hoge, Jordan (Josh) Strausbaugh, Jenna (Ryan) Nunamaker, Jared (Stephanie) Hinkle, Madelene (Owen) North, Gage Young, and great grandchildren; Maxwell, Jettson, Wayne, William, Sophie, Lily, Emma, Maddox, Lucy, Kason and Jolene. He is also survived by siblings; Gene (Richard) Cline, Alice (John) Dyminski and Wayne (Liz) Guy, as well as many loving nieces and nephews and his good friend; Rich Cypher.
A resident of Celebration Villa in Chippewa, he was entrusted to the care of Tracy, Lisa, Meghan, Diana, Sherry, Heather, Tiffany, Amy, Lexie, Ivy, Fatima, Jennifer and others. Transitions Hospice helped to make his stay easier with their compassionate care and daily visits from Amber, Christine, Kayla and Tarra. He loved his caregivers and they loved him. Wilbur loved God, his country, and his pets. He loved traveling to Jamaica, to Florida to see his best friends Bucky and Gene, the Carolinas and Michigan. He loved cars, especially his Lincoln and sitting on his porch enjoying the view and the deer. But most of all, he cherished his Family. He was so proud of each one of them and loved them unconditionally.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8pm and funeral services, including full military honors, will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 12:00 noon at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum).
