William "Bill" E. Husk

Sometime in the night on Tuesday, May 28, God welcomed Bill Husk home. He passed peacefully in his sleep after a brief but complicated period of illness. Pictured here with his beloved wife of 63 years, Elizabeth “Mardell” Riggs Husk; he is also survived by two daughters, Connie Moore of Beaver, and Betty Moore and her husband, Charlie, of Brighton Township, Beaver. Four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Nick Brooks, Justin Brooks, his wife Missy and their daughter, Avery; Lindsey Brooks Dickinson and her husband Steven; and Heather Moore Herstine, her husband Ryan and their son, Elijah. He is also survived by one sister, Patty Van Scyoc, Chambersburg, PA Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather! He and his wife were music-makers, and were known for their twin Gibson Hummingbird guitars. They played, sang and performed with many groups through the years. Bill and Mardell were also avid square dancers! Bill grew up a farm-boy in Green County, PA and in his adult-hood came to Beaver County for a trade in the booming steel industry. He worked as a welder in the Seamless and Welded Tube at J & L Steel in Aliquippa; and continued to work for LTV steel, expanding his skills to be a Maintenance Technician/Mechanical. After his retirement, he worked independently as a welder, and briefly for other companies, before joining the dedicated team of the Beaver County Conservation District. He served a number of roles, but probably most memorably, was collecting and processing maple syrup at Brady’s Run Park. Bill was a member of Green Valley Sportsman’s Club. He was a former member of Service Presbyterian Church, Raccoon Township where he served as an Elder and Clerk of Session. He later became an active member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church, Shippingport. The family will receive friends today, Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His funeral service, to remember, honor and celebrate his life will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning, May 31, 2019 in the funeral home. His daughter, Pastor Betty Moore, will officiate with Rev. Dr. Allan Drake providing gathering music and scripture readings to open the service.
