

William H. Scheidemantle, Jr., 82 of Beaver Falls, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, while under the compassionate care of the staff at Friendship Ridge. William was born August 28, 1927 in Ellwood City, son of the late William and Blanche (Powell) Scheidemantle. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. Following his honorable discharge, Bill returned home and began and long and rewarding career with Westinghouse Electric, from which he retired after 34 years of service.
He was a member of American Legion Post 19, New Brighton; BPOE Elks Lodge #283, Rochester; St. James Masonic Lodge #457, Beaver; a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, New Castle Consistory; and the Beaver County Caravan #18 of the Pittsburgh Syria Shine. Bill was also a member of the Seven Oaks Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. Bill enjoyed his retirement and was blessed to travel the world with his beloved wife Ruth. They visited all 50 states and six of the seven continents. He was particularly proud of the family log cabin that he and his father-in-law built in 1958 among the hills of Warren County. Bill loved to visit the camp where he enjoyed hunting and camping, or just visiting to enjoy its beautiful, quiet setting. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Beaver.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Martin and Patricia Lon.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years: Ruth (Teconchuk) Scheidemantle; three sisters: Donna Anderson, Butler; Delphia Cearfoss and Linda Earlin, both of Ellwood City, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received today, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Members of St. James Lodge 457 F.&A.M. will hold a brief Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Scott Homer and Rev. Carl Neely, officiating. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. If desired, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Heart and Lung Association.
Military Honors will be presented by members of The Beaver County Special Unit, 11 a.m. on Wednesday, in the funeral home.
