He was born September 9, 1922 in Rockford, the son of Charles and Ella Chirvinski. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard during WWII, he later married Rosemary Melcher, she survives him.
Bernard is also survived by three daughters; Christine Lukas, Valerie Gossett and Catherine Marsh, two granddaughters; Jennifer James and Kaitlin Marsh, also surviving is one niece and two nephews. And his beloved dog George.
He enjoyed many forms of music and was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears and Bulls fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services at 7000 West State St, Rockford, IL. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Willwood Burial Bark, Rockford, IL.
