

Betty J. Carter, 89, of Rockford IL passed away January 18, 2021 with her loving family beside her. She was born on July 30, 1931 in Capron IL to Grover and Mary Terry. Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a provider and a dedicated worker. Betty worked for many years at Cam-car serving the Rockford community. She became very close with her co-workers there and always got together for a monthly reunion lunch with them. Betty enjoyed spending her time camping, fishing, and most of all gambling. She went to Las Vegas numerous times, and sitting next to Betty always meant a winning slot machine. Betty was also a talented bowler, and she was on numerous bowling leagues in the Rockford area. She adored her grandchildren and took much pride in watching them grow as much as she was able. She will be missed by many.
Betty is survived by her loving children; Tim (Anie Rose) Carter, Bill Carter, Ken (Laurie) Carter, Karen Thurow, Laurie (Chris) Pielak, daughter in-laws, Janet Carter and Jean Carter. Her grandchildren, John Carter, Chris (Samantha) and Kevin (Amy) Menge, Monia (Nick) Altier, Michelle (Arturo) Pielak-Gonzalez, Christina (Jerry) Rudolph, as well as Robert and Andrew Carter; her great grandchildren; Carter, JR, David Rudolph, and Matthew Tucker. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorthy Lukasizwicz, and Mary Lou VanVleet.
She is predeceased by her loving husband; Charles Carter, her sons, Terry and Steve Carter, son in law; John Thurow, as well as her parents, Grover and Mary Terry,
The family would like to thank OSF healthcare and Hospice for their loving care of Betty.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family, in the care of Advantage Funeral Home.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a service of remembrance will be scheduled at a later date.
