Betty S. Houston

Betty S. Houston, 78, of Winnebago, IL, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 7, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 21, 1939 in Dardanelle, AR, the daughter of Clarence and Letha (Rodgers) Roach. Betty married the love of her life, Taylor Houston on August 1, 1959 in Rockford, IL. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved to quilt and garden. She enjoyed needlework, knitting and crocheting.

Betty is loved and missed by her loving husband of 59 years, Taylor; children, James Houston, Susan (Michael) Larson, Tyler (Tessa) Houston; 8 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda and her husband, Norm; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her children, Lynda Houston, and Timothy Houston; her parents, and her siblings, Joe and Mildred.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State Street, Rockford, IL 61102. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Burial in Willwood Burial Park.
