Brooxie Kaye Shumate, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012. She was born September 29, 1948, in Waynesboro, Tennessee, daughter of Rex and Leva (Mathis) Nutt. On May 5, 1985 she married John Shumate in Chicago.
As a CNRA she was employed at Cook County Hospital for more than twenty years. She loved needle work, shopping, reading spy novels, watching politics on television and traveling.
Survivors include her husband, John Shumate; sisters, Carolyn (Don) Wait, Hilda Griggs and Dianne Nutt.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her mother in law, Grace Shumate.
Service at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 7000 W. State St. Burial will be private. Visitation from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday, May 26. Condolences may be submitted at mem.com.
