Carol J. Landis, 53, of Roscoe passed away on March 12, 2021, at home, with her husband by her side, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Carol was born 1/3/1968 to Joan (Carter) and Edmund Spence. She lived her whole life in the Rockford area and graduated from West High School. Her greatest joy was bringing her son, Nick into the world. Steve and Carol met while working together, they were married in Las Vegas and shared 22 amazing years together.
Steve and Carol loved their annual vacations which included many trips to Gatlinburg, Bristol, TN for Nascar races, Jamaica, Florida and many other places to visit family and friends. Carol loved to listen to music, play pool, the color Kelly Green, the Green Bay Packers, and any time spent with her family and friends around the fire pit or playing cards or games. Her love of life was evident to all who knew her. She will be missed beyond measure.
She is survived by her best friend and husband, Steve Landis. Son, Nicholas (Beth) Jolliff. Brothers, Dan (Nan) McLee and Marc Spence. Sisters, Denise (Bob) Gratton-Fisher and Gale (Rod) Sipple. Sister in Law, Vicki (Dave) Deltgen. Step-brother Mike (Rachel) Ralph. Mother in Law, JoAnn Landis and Step-mom, Arlene Spence. Many nieces and nephews and loving friends that were like family. Pre deceased by her father and mother. Infant daughter, Jennifer. Sisters, Gina Grant and Diane Elgin. Father In Law, Dale Landis.
We would like to thank all of Carol's doctors, nurses and staff at the OSF Cancer Center for their loving care and friendships over the years of treatments. And most recently the incredible OSF Hospice Care team for all of their support to Carol and our family.
No service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date this year. Carol's giving spirit always put others first and she supported so many fellow cancer warriors. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to support the mission of Pink Heals, Winnebago County Chapter.
In true Carol style, here is the message she left us in a hand written note: To my family and friends, I sure do love all of you, we have a lot of memories together, please try to hold on to these as we say that we will meet again. You all know that if I had my choice, I would still be here and we would still be making memories. You're the ones who have kept me going so long - Carol.
