God took another angel home, Wed, August 18, 2021. Carolyn (Smith) Brandenburg, age 59 years and 2 days before her 60th birthday. Born August 20, 1961 to Ellsworth “Bill” “Smitty” and Pauline “Polly” Smith. Carolyn attended Concordia Lutheran Grade School and Rockford Lutheran High School. Carolyn was born with congenital heart disease with a hole in her heart. She still endured this after three surgeries, she was unable to work. She married Scott “Scooter” Brandenburg in July of 1991. She was the co-owner of Scooter’s Automotive in Machesney Park.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Scott; mother, Polly; brother, Tom (Debbi) Smith; nephews, Austin and Alex (Bonnie); great-nephew, Leaner Smith; niece, Ashlee Smith; aunts, Betty (Harry) Klopp, Earline (Gary) Nelson; uncles, Jim (Barb) Woodard, Houston “Mac” (Donna) Woodard; several cousins; best friend, Norma Glogowski. She was preceded in death by her father, Ellsworth, aunt Bobbie Slocum, uncle Gene Woodard, cousins, Jeff Woodard, Jason Smith, Bill Furman, Pete Loy and her four-legged best friend, Bozzie.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2021 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State St, Rockford, IL 61102. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family is making a donation in Carolyn’s Honor.
