February 13, 1922November 23, 2019

Catherine S. Burt, 97, passed away peacefully November 23, 2019 with her family by her side.

Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Herbert [John] Burt; Loving mother of Cathy (Stephen) Derr and Alan (Nancy Saunders) Burt; Cherished grandmother of Lynette Collins and Erik (Nona Swagger) Derr; Adored great grandmother of Emily Johnson, Sara Collins, Riley Collins, and Taylor Derr; Dear sister of the late Louise Testdorf, Anna Maciejewski, and Jacob Bureta.

Catherine was born February 13, 1922 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At the age of twenty, she moved to Rockford. She met John [her husband of 68 years] and they married on June 26, 1948. She was employed at Berson Knitting Company, National Lock, 11th Street Bakery, and Zanocco Grocery. She and John raised two children, Cathy and Alan. Later on she cared for her two grandchildren Lynette and Erik. Catherine and John resided in their home for 58 years. Due to health concerns, they retired to Wesley Willows in 2016. In retirement they spent their winters in Florida and Las Vegas but their favorite destination was Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque, Iowa. Over the years Catherine was associated with the Ellida Club, the Baltic Club, and a Bowling League in which she served as secretary for some time. Some of her favorite past times included playing bingo, card games, and most recently, spending time with her friends at Wesley Willows. She had a strong faith and will to fight, but lost the battle. She was carried to her heavenly home on November 23, 2019.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11am at Wesley Willows Chapel (4141 N. Rockton Ave, Rockford, IL 61103).
