Claude Emmanuel Smith, age 76, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025. He was born October 2, 1948 in Rockford, Illinois to Claude and Marie (Whitman Bakends) Smith. Claude worked for many years as a truck driver. He married the love of his life, Vivian Jean Simpson, on April 16, 2025.
Claude was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and Jean at his favorite bar. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and driving stock cars t the Rockford Speedway.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Smith; children, Rhonda Smith and Shannon Pierce; grandchildren, TJ, Talena, Michael, Candus, Britnee, Mikey, Summer, and Shaeann; along with many great-grandchildren.
Claude was preceded in death by his children, Michael Pierce and Starlena Wheeler; and parents, Claude and Marie Smith.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 27 at 1:00 PM at Willwood Burial Park, 7000 W State St, Rockford, IL, 61102.
