Clifford ”Cliff” LeRoy Andrews was born on January 1, 1944 in Monroe, WI, to LeRoy and Grace (Phillips) Andrews. He passed away at his home in Naperville, IL, on Thursday, September 7, 2023, due to several health complications, at the age of 79.
Cliff graduated from Beloit Memorial High School and quickly married his High School sweetheart Wanda Ray on November 2, 1963 in Beloit, WI. They were married for almost 60 years. He grew up in Beloit but most of his life was lived in Loves Park, IL, where together with Wanda, they raised six rambunctious boys who made their home always full of activity.
He worked at Atwood as a Machinist for 20 years as well as other machine shops, where he developed life-time friendships with the other employees.
He was a member of Evans United Methodist Church and enjoyed services and getting to know others.
Cliff really enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing and went as often as possible, often taking his sons. He was also a lifetime member of Blackhawk Field Archery Club. He enjoyed feeding and watching birds and squirrels at his home. His other outdoor interests included camping, and The Boy Scouts of America, of which he was actively involved and earned several awards including Order of the Arrow.
Cliff loved and was very involved in his kids and grandkids lives, coaching softball, visiting with them as much as possible, and rooting them on at their sporting and other events, always so proud of all of them.
In his free time, Cliff enjoyed making wood projects with his wife and giving them to family and friends. His projects ranged in size from a carousel horse, bear “doll” house, and wall plaques, to small animals, puzzles, figurines, and Christmas tree ornaments, with every size and shape in-between, always looking forward to what he could make next. He enjoyed giving them so much that before he passed away, he was disappointed that he wasn’t able to finish this year’s Christmas gifts for his grandkids.
If it was football season, you could always find Cliff rooting for the Green Bay Packers and any team playing against the Chicago Bears. In baseball season it was Chicago Cubs all the way. His wardrobe and collections included many Packers and Cubs items.
Although he enjoyed several dogs and cats throughout his life, his last dog, lovingly known as “Jenny Dog”, was his favorite, and he enjoyed a special bond with her before she passed away.
Clifford Andrews was proceeded in death by his parents LeRoy and Grace Andrews, his brothers Jimmy, Irving and Charles, his grandson Casey Andrews, and his sons Lee, Randy, Richard and Karl Andrews, his daughters-in-law Vicki Cox and Carla Andrews, and “Jenny Dog.”
He is survived by his wife Wanda Andrews of Naperville, IL, his sister Sandy (Tony) Werner of Janesville, WI, his son Kenny (Rachel) Andrews of Lake Zurich, IL, and their children Colton, Owen and Grace, daughter-in law (Lois) of Loves Park, IL and her children Brittany and Eric, son Roy (Denise) Andrews of Dodge Center, MN, and their children Aurora and Jaron, his grandchildren Clifford (Erica) Andrews of Loves Park, IL and their son Bryce, and nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will take place at Evans United Methodist Church. 7605 North Second Street, Machesney Park, IL on Monday, September 11, 2023. Viewing and visitation at 10:00 am and funeral service at 11:00 am.
A light lunch will be served following the service. Officiated by Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services.
Cliff will be lovingly remembered for picking on others, his hearty laugh, taking his grandkids and family out for breakfast, his handmade wooden projects, and being a sports fanatic.
