David Gene Schandelmeier was born in Rockford on June 17, 1950 to Judith and Merle S. Dave grew up in Loves Park, graduating Harlem High School in 1968. He worked through I.B.E.W. Local #364, attaining a good standard of living through hard work. Dave was a Yoga instructor for 20 years. He honored Native American Traditions and was adept at making pipes and drums. He was an avid gardener, able to identify hundreds of plants; other hobbies included leather and woodworking. Dave was 35 sober and active in AA.
Dave was predeceased by his mother Judith and brother Dal; survived by his sister-in-law Rhonda S., sister Denise (George) Frannson and brother Doug (Pam); nieces and nephews: Alesha, Ethan, Eric, Elizabeth, Dorothea, Centanni, Dan (Monica), Justin and Rhiannon (Josh) Spencer; 3 great-nieces and 3 great-nephews.
Our smart, tidied hippie peace-nik brother and friend passed on March 20, 2022 and will be long remembered.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Dave’s life will be Saturday April 9, 2022 at Advantage Funeral and Cremation 7000 W. State Street in Rockford from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.
