I went to high school with Diana.  I am so sorry that I didn't find out until now that she had passed away.  R.I.P. and God speed.

I met Diana in 6th grade at Perry School. We hung out together mostly in 7th & 8th grade. She was always very nice to me and we discovered we lived just down the street from each other on West Lincoln Avenue in Belvidere.  Im so sorry to read of her passing. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Diana was my sister in Christ, and like the sister I never had.    We met in High School.  I was introduced to her through her cousin Carla.   We quickly became best of friends and hung out all the time!    I remember spending weeks at a time at her house in the summer.   Her family totally accepted me as one of their own, and were important people in a very vunerable time in my life.    Her Mom was so loving and sweet, and Diana took after her Mom in so many ways!  Both Diana and Carla were important people in leading me to a life with Jesus.        Diana was my best friend.    After graduation, life and college had us separate for a long while, but I did still hear from and see Diana occassionally.   When I found out Diana needed heart bypass surgery in January, I visited her, and learned they were transferring her to Chicago.   I could see Diana was kinda scared not knowing what to expect in the big  city, but I was like “road trip!”   I followed her in the ambulance, and was able to be there to be supportive of her as she settled into the hospital.   We talked for hours about all that has happened in our respective lives, and it felt like we just picked up again where we had left off.     Diana has expressed to me how grateful she was that I was back in her life, and I told her I would do anything I could to make her happy and comfortable.    We spent so much of our high school years making each other laugh and having fun!   I was looking forward to those times again.   I had envisioned cook outs, parties, and just hanging out together.  I was devastated to hear she was sick again and how serious and aggressive this was.    I was convinced that I was going to be with her as much as I could, and was on my way to see her when I found out the news.     My heart is broken.      Our last phone conversation had Diana telling me Thank-you for being back in my life.     I know I will see her again someday, but I will miss you sorely,  until then my friend.

Hello everyone. Due to covid-19 and social distancing  I am going to be posting Diana's eulogy on this website. I am Diana's husband Mario Martinez. When I was first introduced to Diana by my brother Mike and their mutual friend Char Wise. I was immediately taken by Diana she was pretty, fun loving, easy to talk to and generous. Diana and Char would visit me and my brother Mike just about every weekend in Woodstock. I remember going to lots of rock concerts, bond fires, cookouts and parties together. Our friends and family dubbed them the blondies as they both had blonde hair. Diana and I moved in together in 1995 and we were rarely apart for the next 25 years. Diana was my soulmate the only thing we fought about was my addiction and her credit card debts but we always tried to make up before we went to bed. Diana loved her job and her residences and most all of her residences loved her. She also liked and  spoke highly of her coworkers. Diana loved simple pleasures, her family, her Country, Christian and country music and our chihuahua Novella. Diana's favorite pass time was being curled up on our comfy couch watching cooking shows and playing on her phone. Diana had very good work ethics and took pride in her work as a care provider. Diana loved and missed her mother very much as she lost her mother when she was only twenty-five. Diana went through so much the last few months of her life she had triple bypass heart surgery in January of this year and was barely recovering when doctors diagnosed her rare and very aggressive cancer in March. One of my deepest regrets is that I wasn't able to be there in person when she got the devastating news. I can only try to imagine what it must of been like  like for her. Diana was naturally very scared at first but her faith in God took over and she accepted it and was at peace. Diana would comfort me when I couldn't be strong and would be sobbing at her side. She was an amazing woman. Rest in peace my love of my life.
