Don passed away on Friday, November 6th, 2020 after a tough battle with cancer. He was born September 21, 1935 in Macomb, Missouri to Ramie and Abbie Bennett. He graduated from Mansfield High School, class of 1953. At the age of 17 Don moved to Rockford to start working at Sundstrand Corp. Between time at Sundstrand and Suntec Ind. He worked for 44 years before retiring in 1997. Don married his wife Rose on July 20, 1954. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army.
Don is survived by his son, Brian Bennett; daughter-in-law, Lynn Bennett; grandson, Bobby Bennett; nephew, R.L. (Glenda) Bennett; nieces, Connie Hopper, Kathy Miller, Paula White, and Lynda Bryant; sister-in-laws, Sandra Bennett and Patricia Bing; special friend, Delcia Heriford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Bennett; parents Ramie and Abbie Bennett; brothers, Leroy, Ray, and Joe.
A Walk Through Visitation will be held Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 10am to 11am at Advantage Funeral Home (7000 W. State St, Rockford, IL 61102). Graveside Service and Interment will follow the Walk Through Visitation at Willwood Burial Park (7000 W. State St, Rockford, IL 61102).
