

She was married to William Thomas Getty February 19, 1949. When William passed away on May 19, 1984 he told her that he would be waiting at the gate of heaven with a band of angels for her.
Dorothy was a devoted mother and cherished family member. Her love was the foundation of our family.
Dorothy made many lasting friendships at antique shows she attended. She had a love for old postcards and paper antiques and loved to share her knowledge and time with her many friends there.
She is survived by her children, Janet (William) McMahan, Leanne Getty. Lisa Schuetz, William R. Getty, and David Getty; grandchildren, Tiffany (Darren) Minard, Amanda (Alan) Schuetz, Thomas Davenport, Bryan Schuetz, Krystal Schuetz, and Alison Meyers; eleven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, William (Lois) Jacobs; son-in-law, Timothy Meyers; grandson-in-law, Pete Gunn; and many more family members including her beloved cat, Josie.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, William Thomas Getty; son, Thomas Getty; daughter, Jodi Meyers; granddaughters, Aileen McMahan and Sarah Gunn; parents, Florence and Walter Jacobs and Emma Jacobs; brothers, James Jacobs and Walter Jacobs; sisters, Wilma Bender, Joann Hutmacker, and Nina McLaughlin; and son-in-law, Doug Schuetz.
A Celebration of Life for Dorothy will be held on Tuesday, February 24 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Pinos on Main Pizza, 2511 N Main St, Rockford, IL 61103. Cremation rites and private burial services will be accorded.
