Douglas Cox, age 62, of Phoenix Arizona, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025. He was born March 19, 1962 to David and Gwendolyn in Rockford, Illinois. Doug graduated from Boylan Catholic High School. He worked for NiGas and AT&T, then started a business as a tile setter. Doug married Lynette Parker, and they were blessed with their daughter, Ruthie in 1996.
Doug was so proud of his “punkin” Ruthie, he loved sharing her accomplishments! He liked cars and racing, like his dad and brother. Doug was always kind and was known to “give the shirt off his back” to help others, like his mom. When he wasn’t tinkering in the garage, he was collecting die cast cars or playing with a dog. He made everyone around him laugh and feel at ease with his sweet personality.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Ruthie Grace Cox; mom, Gwendolyn Cunningham; best friend, Lynette and his dog, Bella.
He was preceded in death by his dad, David Cox, brother, Davey Cox and friend, Melanie Lawrence.
A visitation will be held for Doug on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W State Street, Rockford, Illinois 61102. A service will follow at 2:00 PM.
