

Eloise Dawn Lovell, 67, of Rockford, Illinois passed away suddenly Wednesday, June 1st, 2016 shortly before a medical procedure due to complications arising from heart disease and diabetes at the University of Chicago's Center for Care and Discovery. Born April 28th, 1949 in Rockford, the daughter of Edward Hoffman and Genevieve (DeWitt) Hoffman. She married Morrie Peterson and following a divorce, remarried to Richard Lovell. Though their marriage ultimately ended, one of Dawn’s final wishes was to be inurned with him. She received her Associates Degree from Rock Valley College, and her Bachelor of Arts Degree from National Lewis University. She became a member of Alpha Delta Omega, a National Honor Society for Human Services, and the Phi Theta Kappa Society in recognition of her academic success. She worked at Rosecrance Health Network as a substance abuse counselor before retiring. She was an avid gardener and crafter, and many times you could find her either tending to her flowers or making an afghan for her family. She loved cooking, baking, and the mysterious beauty of the ocean. She was fierce, opinionated, and loved her family in equal measure. She is survived by children: Edward (Rebecca) Peterson, Wendy (Eric) Rose, Christy (Joseph) McCoy, and Sean (Syreeta) Lovell; grandchildren Amanda Barmore, Eric Crabb II, Christopher McCoy, Trevor McCoy, and Nathaniel McCoy; great grandchildren Rowan Barmore and Jace Barmore; mother Genevieve Hoffman; and siblings Phyllis (Terry) Bishop, Betty Dant, and Vernon Hoffman. She is preceded in death by Morrie Peterson, Richard Lovell, brother Edward Hoffman Jr., and father Edward Hoffman. She will be missed dearly.
Memorial service to celebrate Eloise's life will be 11:00 am Saturday June 11, 2016 at Temple Baptist Church in Rockford.
