ROCKFORD, IL. Gary Lee Powell, 72, was welcomed into heaven, on Saturday, January 30, 2016. He was born to Melvin and Floryence (Jacob) Powell on May 1, 1943 in Rockford. He married Virginia “Ginny” Tropp Picavet, in July of 1988, making both their lives complete. Gary started his business, Quality Tool and Screw in 1969, which he owned and operated until 1986 when he sold it to ITW. He continued to work at ITW until he retired in 1991. Gary was a member of the Blast From the Past Committee, officer in the Rock River Valley Studebakers Club, Gem Horseshoe Pitcher Club and past president and member of the Svihiod Club . He also enjoyed baseball, fishing, rabbit and deer hunting.
He will be forever missed by: his wife of 27 years; children, Jennifer (Jason) Clark, Amy Picavet(Keven) Remillard ; grandchildren, Joshua, Jakob, Addison, and Emily; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; brothers, LeRoy (Corky), Ron (Ginger) Powell; sister, Bette (Ron) Leopold.
