Gary “Gus” Sansone, 74, of Rockford, passed away March 12, 2020. He was born October 5, 1945 in Rockford to Donna Leonard. He lived a life of many wondrous accomplishments and passions. He held a 6th degree black belt in Karate. He was an officer with the Rockford Police Department. He was co-owner and baker at Sparkle Donut in Rockford for many years. And he even studied to be a Baptist Preacher. Gary was committed to serving his community and his family. When he wasn’t driving his motorcycle, Gary liked to walk to wherever he was going while he was able. He frequented Hooters, Chili’s, and Mr. C’s as his favorite restaurants.
He is survived by his children; Margy (Scott) McLeod, Mary (Brian Irvin) Sansone, and Lauri Swick, his siblings; Vincent Sansone, Kathleen Sansone, Jim Sansone, and Lou Rossi. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
He is predeceased by his loving wife; Lora Sansone, his parents; Donna and Vito Sansone, and his siblings; Constance Sansone and Marty Rossi.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 15, from 1pm to 4pm at the Eagles Club. Located at 3829 11th St, Rockford, IL 61109.
