Harry J. Russell, 95, of Rockford died Monday, July 9, 2018 in his home with his wife of 72 years by his side. He was born January 31, 1923 in Cushing, OK. The son of Evelyn Russell. He was raised in Texas but adopted Rockford as his forever home after meeting the love of his life, Shirley while he was stationed at Camp Grant. Harry served in the United States Army during WWII. After he was discharged He married Shirley Lenstrom on February 16, 1946. Together they started their family and started their own business The Star Sign Company. Harry’s passions were fishing, family and his art.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Shirley; children, Terry (Gene) Fox, Larry (Patty) Russell, Judy (Ed) Uchno, Kay Pitney; grandchildren, Andrea Kelsey, Christopher Defiant, Arien Rather, Amy Rush, Anna Ucnho, Abby Pitney, Emily Pitney, Riley Pitney, Dan Russell, Ben Russell; great-grandchildren, Spencer, Evan, Rhianon, Cody, Autumn, Rory, Lola, Dani, Addie. Predeceased by his mother.
Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Friday July 13 at Memorial Baptist Church, 7007 Flora Rd, Rockford. Visitation at 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial following in Kishwaukee Cemetery in Stillman Valley.
