Jim was born on October 30, 1938 in Freeport, IL to George and Irene (Sabin) Borcherts. Jim worked as a journeyman carpenter, belonging to local 792, he worked at numerous different companies. He married the love of his life, Lois J. (Young) on November 1st, 1957. They lived together in their New Milford Home for 52 Years and became a staple in the community. Jim used his carpentry skills to become the “Jack of All Trades” in the neighborhood, never once accepting any payment for his work. In their marriage, they had two children, Vernon James Borcherts and Valerie Jean Borcherts.
Jim is predeceased by his children Vernon and Valerie; his parents George and Irene; his sisters Geraldine (Bouma), Marilyn (Williams); his brother Richard Borcherts; sister-in-law, Pernie Borcherts and brother-in-law, Joe LaRue.
Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years Lois J. Borcherts, brother Donald Borcherts, sister Donna LaRue and numerous nieces and nephews.
