James E. Cairnes, 70, of Roscoe, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife Jeannine by his side. Born in Chicago, IL to James and Lillian Cairnes he later moved to Rockford in 1967. After three years in the Army he went on to Northern IL Univ. to earn his Bachelors Degree of Science. His work career consisted of two years as a store manager for the Kroger Co, eleven years in marketing with 3M Co and 14 years as a senior account executive with Pitney Bowes Co. After retiring in 1990, he founded the Momentum Marketing Co and CEO until 1995 when he fully retired. His hobby has always been fishing and taught evening fishing classes at McHenry County College and Rock Valley College for twenty years. Jim enjoyed landscaping and gardening around the house. Maintaining several acres was not a chore, but relaxation and enjoyment for him. Survived by his wife, Jeannine; daughter Melissa (Tom) Yapelli of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Allison (Joel) White of Jefferson, IN, Heather Yapelli; Anthony Yapelli both of Columbus, IN; sister, LaVerne (Ben) Williams of Arlington, TX: niece, Christine (Mike) Pulley and great nephews , Steve and Mikey Pulley all of Arlington TX; niece, Leah (Kevin) Rison of Orlando, FL, and Deborah (Ryan) Layne; great nieces, Kayla and Aliya Layne all of Gilberts, IL; sister-in-law, Ginny (Jim) Hane of Hendersonville, NC; cousin, Gracie (Roy) Olson of Wayne, PA and a host of special friends and fishing buddies. Predeceased by his parents, James and Lillian Cairnes. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and PCT’s at Swedish American Hospital Ecology Unit and Swedish American Regional Cancer Center.
