John AKA Tony "Bones" W Elder

He married Arlene Elder on February 24, 1973. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, he loved hunting, fishing, trapping and dog racing with partner Bobby “Bacon” Spradlin; and in 2002, won 1st place in the World Horseshoe Championship. He did things, “his way”.

John is survived by; his children, Randy (Jennifer) Elder, Charlie (Angela) Elder, and Beth (Brandon) Freeman; grandchildren, Randy “Thumper” Elder, Austin Shelton, Dawn Elder, Genevieve Elder, Andi Elder, Tiffany Elder, Mason Freeman, Emma Elder, Charlie W. Elder and Eric Freeman; brothers, Terry (Sue) Elder, “Cuss” (Tara) Elder, Jimmy Elder and Andy (Aletta) Elder; He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Peanut, Martha and Rachel.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Arlene; a daughter, Tiffany Shelton; parents,

Thomas and Betty Elder; and brother, Joe Elder.

Funeral service will be 2pm on Monday March 4th, 2013 at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Service, 7000 W. State Street, Rockford. Pastor Jim Schwalm will be officiating. Visitation will be from1pm to 2pm on the day of service. Interment will be at Willwood Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be given to the family.
