Judy Lee Battig

Judy Lee Battig, 75, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, June 6, 2022 at Swedish American Hospital. Judy was born March 13, 1947 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Neil R. and Lilamae (Stearns) Vickery. Judy married the love of her life, Arthur “Chuck” Battig on September 7, 1961. She was a long time member of Maywood Evangelical Free Church, where she was a huge part of the Children’s Ministries. Judy was a loving and caring foster parent for over 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, reading and playing card games with her loved ones. Judy was a very loving and compassionate woman who will be deeply missed.

Judy is survived by her nieces and nephews, Barbara Guntermann, Windy (Michael) Ballard, Angel Broomfield-Bristol, JT (Rhey Ann) Quillen, Lila Ballard, Clay Kilgore and Robin Slota Thomas; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jennifer (Nicholas) Kohl, Jamie Kilgore, Kayla Kilgore, Micah (Tawny) Ballard, Luke (Savannah) Ballard, Leah Ballard, Landon (Amaria) Ballard, Levi Ballard, Lincoln Ballard, Lily Ballard, Larsen Ballard, Troy Broomfield, Layla Quillen, Kira Quillen, Jack Quillen, JC Kilgore and Luke Kilgore; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Kailey Bramble, Arabella Ballard, Brinnley Ballard, Colden Ballard, Bea Ballard, Ariahnna Hightower, Jamir Hightower, Kingston Hightower, Willie Jackson, Christopher Appleton, and Katie Thomas; many foster children who were very precious to her; as well as special friends, Glenda (John) Dukey, Carole (Don) Johnson and Sandy (Ron) Stoltz.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chuck; children Judy Ann Waggoner, Rick Battig, and Tina Bennett; siblings, Roy Vickery and Jean Kilgore; sister-in-law, Josie Quillen; and niece, Betty Kennedy.

A visitation for Judy will be held Friday, June 10, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Maywood Evangelical Free Church, 3621 Samuelson Road, Rockford, Illinois 61109, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.

Judy will be laid to rest in Willwood Burial Park, 7000 West State Street, Rockford, IL 61102.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, Northwest Illinois, 2411 13th Ave, Rockford, IL 61108.
