Kathleen P. Rodberg, 85, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021 in the comforts of her own home. Kathleen was born on July 14, 1936 in Caraway, AR., the daughter of Clovis H. and Mrytle (Earles) Harper. She worked as a beautician out of the basement of her home on 9th Street, she was baptized in the Methodist Faith in a river in Caraway, AR. Kathleen proudly answered to her nickname “Shot”. She was an avid CUBS fan; loved to host holiday dinners and gather her family under one roof. Kathleen served alongside her dear friends: Carol Blais, Anita Turner and Diane Carlson with the New Milford Ladies Fire Auxiliary. Kathleen persevered through a lot in her 85 years which included two marriages, 3 daughters, 6 step-children, beating ovarian cancer and an entire host of blended family fun and challenges. She never met a stranger and her home was always open to guests; her southern sweet tea was the best around! She enjoyed watching her grandkids and great-grandkids play sports. She told it like it was, or at least how she perceived it! Ha. Mom could whip us all in a game of Scrabble and she loved playing cards with the family.
Kathy is survived by her daughters: Vickey Dorton of Jonesboro, AR and Pebbles (Gene) Blais of Rockford, IL; grandchildren: Toby (Christy) Seymour, Dustin (Katie) Dorton, Brittni (Kyle) Van, Cayman and Addie Blais; great-grandchildren: Jaxyn, Julian, baby Felix, Landen, Lexie, Sadie and Layla; special niece Tina (Dallas) Lawson and special nephew Alan (Laurie) Whitlow. Kathleen was predeceased by her loving spouse of 50+ years Eric G. Rodberg, parents, siblings Louise, Fleeda, Gene, Judy, Hubby, Bettina, Jessie, Dessie and Luke; daughter Kathy Otts and sons-in-law Martin Dorton and James Otts.
