

Leroy Allen Youngs, 84, with God’s merciful hand and in his loving kindness, our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather received healing in his eternal home with his Savior and Lord on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. Born August 15, 1932 in Grand Island, NE. Son of Roy and Helen (Feierstein) Youngs. Leroy married Dixie Lou Tice his lifelong friend on June 28, 1953 in Grand Island , NE. Veteran of the United States Navy having served on the USS Essex Aircraft Carrier from 1951-1955. After serving they moved to Rockford in 1957 where he began his career with Hubbard & Highland Architects. Leroy was recognized in the industry as a highly skilled drafting detailer. His career also took him to Boetcher & Simmons Architects and then to Larson & Darby Architects where he was promoted to partnership. He ultimately retired from his career at Richard L. Johnson Associates in 1997.
Was a mentor and teacher to many up and coming architects and draftsman. His love of baseball lead him to coaching numerous youth baseball teams including Geri’s Hamburgers, Scandroli Construction, Lou Bachrodt Colt League and West High School American Legion team. At a young age Leroy began his lifelong passion for raising, showing and drawing game birds.
Leroy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dixie; children, Vicky (Ron) Faraher, Kim (Sam) Enderle, Craig (Karen) Youngs; grandchildren, Jason (Carrie) Faraher, Jeremy (Lynsey) Faraher, Sam Enderle, Nick (Andrea) Enderle, Zach (Liz) Enderle, Sydney Youngs; great-grandchildren, Abby Faraher, Lily Faraher, Dayne Faraher, Jaxon Faraher, Hudson Faraher, Robert Faraher, Noelle Enderle, Quinn Enderle. Predeceased by his parents.
The family would like to thank Northwoods Nursing Home and all of the Staff that helped all of us get thru all the ups and downs of dealing with Alzheimer’s .
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday June 2nd at Northeast Christian Church, 5651 E. Riverside Blvd, Rockford. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Per Leroy’s wishes Cremation Rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Leroy’s name to Alzheimer’s Association Rockford, 1111 South Alpine, Suite 307, Rockford, IL 61108.
