Marvin Edward Gentry, 75, of Rockford, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, October 15, 2018. Born August 2, 1943 in Petersburg, IL. Son of Everett and Dorothy (Stiles) Gentry. United in marriage to Anita Cano on July 30, 1966 in Rockford. Worked as a Truck driver for Teamsters and in later years for other various local companies. He found enjoyment in racing cars at the Rockford Speedway in his younger years, working on cars and fishing. Along with Anita they traveled to Texas to visit family and to Wisconsin to visit friends. He was a family man who worked hard and loved his family.
Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Anita; sons, Marvin, Christopher Paul (Jodi) and Jerome (Christine); grandchildren, Cary, Samantha, Cody, Roxie, Ashley, Nikki, Kayla, Avery, Hannah, Isabella; great-grandchildren, Logan and Sophia. Predeceased by his parents; brother, Frank.
Celebration of Life Memorial Visitation to be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 20 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 West State St, Rockford. Per Marvin’s wishes Cremation Rites have been accorded.
