Mary R. Skidmore, 86, of Rockford, IL, entered into heaven peacefully on December 15, 2023. She was born on January 7, 1937 in Everetts, Kentucky, the daughter of Lewis and Dorothy (Hembree) Hall. Mary married Wade Skidmore on July 24, 1957 in Tennessee. She was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church in Rockford, where she coordinated and catered many weddings for the church. Mary was a cashier at Eagle Foods for over 40 years and after retiring she worked as a cashier at Winnebago Middle School. Mary enjoyed vacationing in Tennessee with her family for many years, a tradition that is still occuring. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand-grandmother/ Gigi-Maw.
Mary is loved and missed by her loving daughter, Marquetta (Richard) Coffell; son-in-law, Jeff Alsup; grandchildren, Heidi (Frank) Dybas, Holly Coffell, Andrew (Kalee) Coffell and Peter Coffell; great-grandchildren, Madeline Dybas, Tucker Coffell, Frankie Dybas and Teddy Dybas; brother, Frank (Pat) Hall; sister, Debbie Dill; sister-in-laws, Mary Lue Hall, Delores "Dee" Hall; brother-in-law, Dennis Johnson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wade, daughter Lecia, siblings, Billie (Banks) Allen, Louie Hall, Bobby Hall, Leroy (Millie) Hall, Jim (Eleanor) Hall, Cheryl Johnson, Phyllis "Sue" (Don) Mitchell and Janice "Jan" (Chuck) Mason, and brother-in-law, Ed Dill.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State St, Rockford, IL 61102. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
