Melvin Berger, 80, of Rockford, IL passed away on November 22, 2022. He was born in Chicago, IL on April 23, 1942 to Louis and Lillian (Jacobs) Berger. Melvin proudly served his country in the US Army. He married Darlene Faitz on August 31, 1974 and together they had 3 children. Melvin worked at Rockford Ball Screw for many years until retiring. He was a member of Lincolnwood Baptist Church. Melvin loved riding his motorcycle with his wife and attending charity runs such as Toys for Tots. He was always working with his hands, fixing cars or wood working. Melvin was an animal lover, great provider, and funny. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 48 years, Darlene; his children, Christy (Scot) Cederquist, Shawn Berger, Timothy (Lillian Groves) Berger, and Annette DeYoung; his grandchildren, Katelyn, Alexandria, Gunner, Michael, Grace, Leah, Addison, and Archer; his great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Alton, and Jake; his sisters, Anita Berger and Harriet Miller; and his dog, Marley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lillian; and his son, Michael Berger.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Family will be planning a Celebration of Life at a later date.
