Michael J. "Mike" Whiteaker passed on July 24, 2026, at the age of 69, having been born on August 28, 1956 in Rockford, IL, the son of Leonard and Donna (Pierce) Whiteaker. He was employed at Malcolm Eaton in Freeport.
Michael enjoyed bowling, fishing, going to the movies and dining out with is girlfriend, Paula. He loved playing his PS5 and woodworking. Mike loved Paw Patrol and adored dogs. In his younger years, he would do puppet shows with Lambchop.
Michael is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; cousin, Lisa and her family; special nephew, Andre (Sarah) Luna and their sons. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Kenny, David and Rick Whiteaker.
A special thank you to the staff and his friends at Olson Terrace for their loving and compassionate support of Mike. Also, a special thank you to Mo Cara Hospice, especially his nurse, Sarah.
A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115.
