Richard was born on December 28, 1927 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Clifford and Emma (Medicus) Blackburn. He married Nancy W. (Westbrook) on July 21st, 1951 in Zanesville, Ohio. Richard was a member of Riverside Community Church and a Veteran of the Korean War. He loved gardening and was proud to be a graduate of THE Ohio State University.
Richard is survived by his wife Nancy; sons Stan and Tim Blackburn; seven grandchildren: and one great grandchild. Richard will always be remembered by family and friends as leading his life with a compassionate sense of humor and a smile.

A memorial service will be 10:45 a.m. Saturday June 6, 2015 at Riverside Community Church 6816 North 2nd St. in Rockford followed by a Memorial Celebration and Luncheon at Cliffbreakers Riverside Resort 700 W.
