Richard J Coffey

Richard J. Coffey, 78, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 after a long illness. Born on February 6, 1932 in City Point, WI, the son of Joe and Ethel Coffey. Served in the U.S. Air Force 1950-1954 as Staff Sergeant. Married Janet Brazel on August 16, 1974 in Rockford. He was an avid reader, loved NASCAR, animals, and loved the Lord.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; his five children and their spouses, Mike, Steve, Sheila, and Chad Coffey, Michelle Silbaugh; brother, George Fetzek; sister, Mary Cartusciello; stepchildren, Art Brazel, Sonia Kane, Patti Cardenas, Beth Montoya; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by parents; daughter, Cindy Brandt; and Shirley Coffey, the mother of his children.

Special thanks for the loving care given to Richard by the staff and residents at Rockford Nursing & Rehab. Many thanks for the wonderful care he received from Dr. Jeffery Smith and Dr. Michael Kikta.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2010 at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, 7000 West State St., officiated by Fr. Peter Sarnicki, OFM. Visitation will held from 10-11 a.m. before the service. Burial at Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.
