Bob Carr loved tires. And batteries, golf, horses, ice cream, cake, candy and everything sweet. And he loved music -- big band music, dancing with Elaine. Bob wasn’t all that handy (even though he designed his own house), but he sure liked to have fun. And with a personality that could fill a room, Bob helped the room have fun, too.
Robert W. Carr, 95, passed away, peacefully, late Wednesday evening. Bob was born in Beloit, WI and later moved to Rockford where he met and married Elaine in 1946. He will be known to friends and family as founder and owner of Bob Carr Tire Mart, longtime tire, battery and accessory manager for Kelly-Williamson and a weekend presence always near the stage, at The Manor in Beloit.
Survivors include his children, Robert (Cathy) Carr, Pat (Bob) Shaw, Richard (Betsy) Carr, and Peggy (Jeff Genoways) Hacker; 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife, and brother.
