Sandra was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University class of 1962, with a degree in Education. She received her Masters degree on November 20, 1993 as a Kappa Delta Pi member. Sandra gave outstanding contributions to education, encouraging high professional, intellectual, and educational standards. She dedicated over 40 years to educating young minds, spending 25 years as a teacher at Harlem High School (1979-2004).
Sandra enjoyed golf and bowling and was inducted into the Bowlers Hall of Fame. After retirement she enjoyed traveling, local craft shows, and chatting with her friends at the donut shop. She was also an active member of Riverside Community Church in Machesney Park.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Megan) Lunsford; granddaughters, Chloe Lunsford and Tori Lunsford; and grandsons, Shai Lunsford, Kaslee Burriell, and Jameson Locher.
Sanda is preceded in death by her parents, Russell Towles and Francis Towles-Sexton; brother, Robert Towles; and sisters, Laska Davis, Norma Jean Davis, and Carolyn Smitley.
