Shirlene “Midge” Schmidt, 79, of Rockford, IL, passed away on July 14, 2022. She was born in Harrisburg, AR on March 14, 1943 to Adolf and Sally (Colbert) Smith. Shirlene married Lawrence Schmidt in 1959 and together they raised 5 children. She loved doing crafts, especially dolls and puzzles. Shirlene cared a lot for her family and became “Mom” to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
Shirlene is survived by her children, Kurt (Shelly) Schmidt, Lanny Schmidt, Todd Schmidt, Jason (Molly) Schmidt, and Kelly (Rich) Beasley; 8 grandchildren, Brett, Corey, Amanda, Penny, Zachary, Savannah, April and Tyler; many great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; her sisters, Brenda Adams and Barb Tortorici; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolf and Sally; her husband of 30 years, Lawrence; and many siblings.
Cremation rights have been accorded. The family will be have a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the family.
