Shirley Ann Vazquez

Shirley A Vazquez of Rockford, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2020. She was born September 30, 1951, daughter to Elden (Shorty) and Mary Ann Hocker. Shirley worked hard all her life as a cook at Stockholm Inn and later at Swedish American Hospital. Shirley loved playing bingo. She also loved her diet Mountain Dew and Bar b que potato chips. It was not very often you would see her without her diet Mountain Dew in her hand. Shirley was married to the love of her life Juan Vazquez for 46 years. Together they raised three children and helped to raise five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her brothers; Donny (Judy) Hocker and Bill Hocker; sister-in-law, Ross Scheid; children, David (Tracy) Vazquez, Johnny (Tina) Vazquez, and Tammy (Phillip) Hawks; grandchildren Michael (Hillary) Vazquez, Dominic Knox, Brianna Hawks, Emily Vazquez, and Gabriel Vazquez; great grandchildren, Sydney, Shaylynn, Dominique, Jermaine, and Mason.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Elden (Shorty) and Mary Ann Hocker; brother, Richard (Dick) Scheid. We would also like to recognize Shirley’s special friend Sherry Tomkus.
