Sonia Lynn Gallagher

ROCKFORD, IL Sonia Lynn Gallagher, 47, died Friday, February 12, 2016. Born February 18, 1968 in Rockford, Il to John and Sharon (Stewart) Gallagher III. Sonia graduated with an Associates Degree and worked as medical assistant, caring for people was in her nature. She had tempered ways with a kind heart and a flare for funny, always with a joke, making others laugh, keeping those around her happy. Sonia enjoyed listening to country music, cooking, playing cards and dominoes. Although she loved and cared for her children very much, the joy in her heart was when she was surrounded by her grandchildren.

She’ll be well remembered as a selfless person, always putting others before herself.

Survivors: mother, Sharon Gallagher; children, Niccole ( Anthony) Schoensiegel, Samuel Reye Purvis Jr., James Gallagher; loving companion of 10 years, Robert J. Schnell; grandchildren, Aaron Schoensiegel, Ethan Gallagher, Johnathon Schoensiegel; sister, Dawn Lawrence; brother, John P. Gallagher; neice and nephews, Jason Lawrence, Veronica Gallagher, Savannah Gallagher, Anthony Taylor, Alexander Lawrence, Makayla Lawrence; many aunts; uncles; cousins. Predeceased by father, John Gallagher III; niece, Veronica Lawrence.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 at Advantage Funeral Home 7000 W. State St. Rockford, Il. Visitation: 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial Willwood Burial Park.
