William “Bill” P. Dowd, 69, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the VA Hospital in Madison after a long illness with Agent Orange. He was born on January 7, 1951 in Linton, IN, the son of William N. and Velva (Brown) Dowd. Bill proudly served in the United States Marine Corp and served in Vietnam. He was a former VFW Commander of the Ross Pearson Post. Bill owned and operated Military Treasures, and traveled across the country selling military memorabilia. He was interested in weapons and knives. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Most of all, Bill had an enormous love of dogs.
Bill is loved and missed his sons, Patrick Dowd and Charles (Patty) Dowd; grandchildren, Kyah, Noah, Isaiah, Angie and Briana Dowd; siblings, Denise (Loren) Brockett, Lori (Lyle) Matthews, Cindy (Larry) DiGvonni, John (Cami) Dowd, and Audie (Laura) Branson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Angela Dowd.
